1 GENERAL1.1 Scope
This Standard establishes minimum requirements,identified by industry consensus,for the training andqualification of installers of firestop systems and devicesfor piping systems.
The qualifications under this Standard are restrictedto those that are required by this Standard, the modelbuilding and plumbing codes requirements for firestop-ping developed by NFPA,ICBO,SBCCI,BOCA,ICC,and IAPMO, and consensus standards for piping systempenetrations of fire-resistance-rated walls, partitions,floors, floor / ceiling assemblies, roof / ceiling assemblies,or shaft enclosures.
1.2 Limitations for Firestop System lnstaller
Compliance with this Standard in itself shall not qual-ify an individual as a certified firestop contractor inaccordance with FM 4991 or a certified firestop inspectorin accordance with ASTM E 2174.
1.3 Inspection of Firestop Systems
Inspection of firestop systems shall be in compliancewith ASTM E 2174.
